How to Add a Language Proficiency Certificate to LinkedIn (Step-by-Step)
If you've earned a language proficiency certificate — through Lingoproof or any other provider — you can showcase it directly on your LinkedIn profile, in the same place recruiters look for professional credentials. This guide walks through exactly how to do it using your Lingoproof certificate as the example, whether it's English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Business English.
Step by step
- Go to your profile. Click the "Me" icon at the top of LinkedIn and select View Profile.
- Add a section. Right below your photo and cover image, click Add profile section.
- Choose "Licenses & Certifications." It appears under Recommended. If you already have this section on your profile, just click the + icon next to it.
- Fill in the fields:
- Name: use your certificate's exact title — e.g. "English Proficiency Certificate — B2" or "Business English Proficiency Certificate — B2".
- Issuing organization: type Lingoproof.
- Issue date: the month and year you took the test.
- Expiration date: leave this blank — your certificate reflects a point-in-time assessment and doesn't expire.
- Credential ID: the verification code shown on your certificate.
- Credential URL: the verification link for your certificate on the Lingoproof site.
- Link skills. LinkedIn asks you to associate at least one skill with the certification. Suggestions:
- Standard test: English, Español, streamPortuguês, or Language Proficiency
- Business English: Business English, Business Communication
- Attach media. Upload the certificate PDF (or a screenshot) directly to this entry — it makes your credential far more visual and credible.
- Click Save. Done — your certificate is now publicly visible on your profile, verifiable by any recruiter.
Why it's worth doing
A credential with a verification link isn't just a nice badge on your profile — it's concrete, checkable proof of your language level, in a format recruiters already know how to look for and trust. In a few clicks, your Lingoproof test stops being a PDF sitting on your computer and becomes part of your professional reputation online.
